Beachfront House Complete Renovation – West Wittering

Overview

This seafront family home is over 50 years is having a complete overhaul and modernisation. It currently has 4 bedrooms, brick exterior, with UPVC plastic doors/windows, small interior rooms, bathrooms and kitchens in need of an update, and a central heating system that needs replacing. Out the front is a single skin garage, garden laid to grass with borders, and a wooden pergola on the seafront.

Brief

Starting outside we plan to:

  • build retaining walls around whole property
  • knock down garage/craftroom to make new studio – in the studio there is radiators, sink, roof lights, big open entertaining space, vaulted ceiling, perfect art studio
  • lay a resin driveway, leading to double garage with an electric up and over door sectional door
  • lay edging pavers all round drive
  • add hardy plank cladding to the exterior (light mist colour)
  • aluminium front door and windows  (light grey colour)
  • raise the roofline to match other neighbouring properties – this would allow for some good loft space
  • build a flint walls to front and rear
  • refurb the beach front by digging foundations for retaining walls and then build a seating area

Inside the house we will:

  • widen the entrance hallway and open up the staircase – this will let us more light into this space
  • underfloor heating throughout the downstairs, with a hard wearing parador vinyl floor
  • the downstairs layout will be completely remodelled to make an open plan kitchen/diner
  • in the kitchen we will built bespoke kitchen cabinets, with a quality stone worktop
  • on the beach side of the house we make a 2.5m extension – this will replace an existing sunroom
  • a new utility room will replace the space from the old kitchen
  • the downstairs bedroom – good accessibility
  • the main tv lounge will be upstairs with sea view with sliding doors to new balcony. This balcony links to a bedroom
  • bespoke storage will be made in most room
